Post Thanksgiving & Wooten-Christmas

Josh and I got home from Nashville today, after grand festivities that included eating, eating, eating and a Wooten-Christmas. My mother asked me on the phone before the weekend what I wanted for Christmas, and being the materialistic one, I rattled off 10 items or so I would enjoy adding to my collection of things that will not pass into the hereafter. They included a Japanese chef’s knife with granton edge, spring-loaded metal tongs, a NON-non stick roasting pan (chicken size), and several other kitchen utilities that I would probably admire more than actually use.

The funny part is: I did not receive a single one of those items. I did receive some very nice gifts, though, including detergent and dryer sheets from Victoria Secret for your delicate items and sheets (smells heavenly), several pieces of Denby that match my pattern (energy), a lovely framed photograph of the Brooklyn bridge (my sister recently visited NYC), and a pedicure set in my stocking. Josh received the staple Best Buy gift card, a DVD (Braveheart), a few shirts, and Cheddar Cheese Pretzel Combos in the stocking.

The most influential part of the weekend was abandoning the book I was supposed to read for work, titled Why We Buy, and instead reading a book about Organizing from the Inside Out. Almost immediately after getting home from Nashville (6 hour drive), I yanked open the hall closet door, and with the new methods learned in afore mentioned book, began sorting things, trashing stuff, and washing sheets in my new detergent. Now there are two entire shelves ? completely empty.

On to the sunroom.
