Surprise, Surprise
No, really - this is a huge surprise.
My boss pulls me into his incredibly hot office (like 95 degrees or something, the air is really messed up) and CLOSES THE DOOR. (gulp) Umm… did I do something wrong? My boss has a very dry sense of humor and likes to make fun of sticky situations (e.g., calling up when i’m under a hot deadline and no where near being finished and says, “so — you’re all finished with that thing, right?” “Hah.” I say. - Hah, indeed.)
This time as I looked nervously at the door to Dante’s inferno being closed behind me, he said, “Yeah, Heather… you’ve been doing really well lately, but…” Then he smiles. Chuckles.
My Brain:IT WAS A JOKE, HEATHER. PRETEND YOU THINK IT’S FUNNY AND DIDN’T JUST SCARE THE POO OUT OF YOU.
“Oh! Hahahaha…ahh.”
THIS BETTER BE GOOD.
Then he proceeds to tell me that the design team (currently me and him) is merging with the interactive group.
Interactive? Excuse me? Oh, and I’m moving office spaces? To where? You can’t tell me yet. I see.
Honestly, this is probably going to be a really cool thing. I may get more mentoring responsibilities and a better choice of the work I want. It’s just that change can be uncomfortable, because…it’s change.
