The Bittersweet Smell of Corrogated Cardboard
Slept in today. Packed some boxes, got several paper cuts - the pain of which was amplified by the fact that I don’t have cuticles due to a recent manicure where I specifically asked the girl not to hack them off. (sigh)
I got a phone call from one of the people I met at the Boy Scouts of America headquarters, offering me a full-time freelance position. That basically means I don’t have to stay in Little Rock any longer than necessary looking for work, which is great.
My very short trip to Nashville this weekend went well. I got to see grandma, and hang out with my mom and sister for a while. They’re sad that there aren’t any direct flights from Nashville to Dallas, but I’m hoping they’ll come out to Phoenix for Christmas and we can meet up then.
Josh’s car is in the shop for A/C retro-fitting of the new freon. This is annoying to have to pay for in the midst of moving, but he needs air for a summer in Dallas.
I’ve been thinking of what I want to say to all my coworkers when I have to leave for good. There are so many people here that I’ve come to love and didn’t even realize it. I’ve been lucky to have amazing friends and even better mentors - leading me through the process of growing up and fitting into the work world. I honestly don’t think I would have as many job opportunities in Dallas if it hadn’t been for the time those people invested in me, and the projects they gave me a chance on. I just hope when the time comes, that I can articulate that appreciation to them completely.
I’ll let you know how my interviews go tomorrow, and the subsequent packing and moving.
And the sleeping on an air mattress in an empty house after that…
