Nothing Much Here
Well, I turned in my test project yesterday for the job I mentioned earlier. Today I recieved an email saying they got it, and they’re really slammed and they’ll contact me after a trade show they’re busy with. So I look up which trade show, and it happens to be taking place at the end of this month, like Jan 29-Feb 2, so I guess I won’t be hearing from them for a while. I don’t mind, but I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing or not anything to be concerned about. I did my best, and I’m busy with other stuff, so everything’s good.
I’ve used “I” way too much in this post already… it’s all about me anyway, right?
Friday is the departure date for Nashville, and my sister and I are trying to find out what in the world to get my mother for her 50th birthday. With all the silly (borderline stupid) gifts she’s given us over the years I have a mind to give her a big bag of Target clearance items, representing a lifetime of the sorts of things I’ve recieved. Essential items in this big bag of Target goodness would include: 50 packs of 3×5 notecards, 25 glue sticks, a long pajama shirt with a dorky cat silk screened on the front, scrunchies, socks, and playing cards. I cannot tell you how many packs of Walgreens playing cards I have… you could seriously wallpaper a room with them.
One great gift she did get me this year is a leather briefcase from Sam Moon (which Michelle likes to call “Sun Moon”). I got to use it for the first time today for a new client meeting at the Galleria. This particular client seems easy going and happy to have my help, but even better they don’t try to get something for nothing. If ever there be a quality one wants in a client, that would be it.
Anyhoo, I’m off. There’s a Bed Bath & Beyond gift card burning a hole in my pocket. I promise I’ll take some photos when I’m in Nashville and post em.

i found you via nathan’s site. just wanted to say that if i gave my dad gifts reflecting gifts he gave us - i could just shop on the trial-sized item aisle - we’d get travel-sized toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap holders - especially in our stockings!
oh - and we live in the dfw metro area too. moved here from florida not long after nathan and liz moved to new orleans.

Such a fun post. Your mom sounds like my adopted grandma. My gift from her this year was a used bar of soap and a journal with the clearence price from Target (ironically) still on the front. It was $2.19.
Pictures from Nashville YES PLEASE! How I long to go there :-)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets weird gifts from relatives! But Kir– USED SOAP? are you joking?! I think that takes the cake, even if I do have a half-trillion 3×5 notecards…
