So I Totally Lied To You

So I’ve been back for a while and last week went by in a flash.

Nashville was nice, but cold and a little rainy. Michelle and I stopped by Dillards on the way home from the airport to get a few presents we had discussed over the phone. They consisted of: a nice silver watch by Anne Klein, a red leather Fossil purse and a cute matching black change purse. I was amused at her uttering every other afternoon, “What time is it? Oh wait, I have a watch!”

Dad got her season passes to TPAC, which I think she’ll enjoy a lot. In fact, one of the birthday events was a Nashville Symphony Orchestra concert with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, of which Victor Wooten is the bass player. I’ve had several people say something to me about Victor Wooten when they find out that used to be my surname. I hadn’t heard of him, but he really is a superb instrumentalist, as are the other members of the band.

Also on the birthday agenda was a visit to Stoney River, which I thought was quite tasty (both the steak and pork).

In other news…

No offense to my dear friend Amy, but I’m currently being stalked by a Mary Kay girl who is as sweet as can be, but I don’t want to start a MK business, or listen to a TEN MINUTE phone message about how her 27 year old director has two cars and a diamond ring and a trip to the Mediterranean (when I heard all of that from the consultant already). I don’t really like the products that much, and I think my own methods of applying make up make more sense for me than the clown whore (Conan’s term, not mine) make up I left her house with. I haven’t had blush like that on since I was a princess for halloween at age 9! I did buy some lip gloss, but mainly because I was out of my Cover Girl stuff and because I felt guilty for my response when she asked me, “So, would you like to get the complete make up bag for $299?” — um, NO?!

Sigh. Oh, and I’m very sorry to disappointing, but I don’t have any photos from Nashville of value because 1) it was drizzly/glum weather and 2) i couldn’t bring the camera into the symphony concert and 3) i just sort of forgot about it. Now that I look back, I should have taken photos of Mom’s new garage, the ginormous steaks we ate, and Michelle’s little basement apartment. Sometime later I’ll tell you about the homeless guy who called me a beautiful full-figured model.

uh, Yah.

  2. i stand corrected! hehe

  3. Sometimes words are better than pictures anyways. :)

  4. You saw Bela Fleck!? That’s great! I’ve never gotten to see them, though I’ve been wanting to for years. Victor Wooten is awesome, but from what I hear, he has a brother who is a guitar player who is equally impressive. Bela Fleck is hands down the best banjo player in the world. Did he play any Bach? I’ve got to see them some time.

  5. Mark, it was definitely cool. I don’t remember any Bach, but they played lots of stuff from their albums, most of which sounded like jam band stuff. You should definitely check out their tour schedule.
