Now if it would just become a blue state…

My typical day of late consists of going to the scrapbooking client in Addison at 9:00 or 9:30am. Taking an 11:30 or 12:00 lunch that’s often a client meeting, back to the scrapbooking client until 6:00p, after which I grab food to throw down and head to another client who creates direct mail postcards and do that until 10:00 or 10:30pm. For the last week and a half that’s been my life (even the weekends I had to work to keep up with all the other freelance jobs I’m not working on since I’m not at home all day). Needless to say, the laundry has piled up. The scrapbooking client wants to hire me, and I like everyone there, but I’m not 100% sure my duties will include the amount of design work I want (and less production). So we’re continuing to feel it out while I try to educate myself a little more on what it takes to create patterned paper for scrapbooking… One thing is for certain: if I take the job, my salary will have increased by about 60% in the year since we left Little Rock*. I find that kind of hard to believe after getting 2% raises that equaled pennies on a paycheck! So despite getting fired and the hottest winter I’ve ever endured, Texas is treating me pretty darn well. At the moment, we’re funnelling everything straight into savings with the hope of getting into a house next February–you know, when the temperature is only 85.

Oh, random funny event of the day: I had a lunch meeting with the purpose of looking at pantone colors for a client’s new logo. My client waits to inform me until we’re at the table and I’m going through the colors that he is completely and utterly colorblind. So why are we having this meeting again? I’m pretty sure I wasn’t hiding the crazy look on my face after that one.

*Not intended to sound like bragging. You would understand if you saw the Arkansas numbers…
