V for Vendetta

Josh and I went to see V for Vendetta last night, and I have to admit I went mostly to spend time with Josh (I’ve been working a lot). Knowing it was a comic book movie gave me certain expectations, which were low considering the crap that’s come out of Hollywood in this genre (see Daredevil and Superman Spiderman!, etc.). However, I was honestly blown away and completely LOVED the film. Movies that are political in nature tend to be up my alley, but I was surprised that the action and philosophy were successfully carried off without one or the other being compromised. It was also a page from 1984 and Brave New World, which fascinated me. We’re definitely going to see it again.

Another plus: the artwork for the film’s promotion is also great. You can see the WWII/Nazi influence.

  1. Heather and I were at Olive Garden yesterday (which was lovely) and I asked her what was wrong with Superman? She responded that it was sexist, which piqued my interest. “What, cuz Supes has to keep saving Lois or something?” “No, like that scene where Kirsten Dunst is wearing a wet t-shirt and she pulls his mask down and kisses him.”

In retrospect it was very rude of me to exclaim in a crowded resturant “THAT’S SPIDERMAN!”

    Sorry HJ!

  2. ::LOL to Josh’s comment. Amazing Josh. Amazing!::

As for V: Totally agree. Nathan and I went to see it last week and sat in stunned silence for almost 15 minutes when the credits ended. We went with low expectations as well, and boy did we have those surpassed!
