And now for something sad

While I’ve been busy, it appears that Cancer has been busy, too. My grandmother told me the other day that my Aunt Maxine has colon cancer. She’s an older woman, and I know that colon cancer isn’t a very survivable disease when it isn’t caught early (…recalling Barbara Moore, who died at age 48, three months after her diagnosis).

Then I found out that childhood friend who lived near us when my sister and I were kids was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She’s 23 years old, and engaged to be married this summer. They’ve moved the wedding up to this Friday. Just family and the wedding party. Trying to get some happiness in before she has to undergo two surgeries to remove her thyroid and all the lymph nodes in her neck.

I’m just thankful I’m healthy at the moment, and praying for those who aren’t.
