Even your emotions have an echo, in so much space
The month of May sure has flown by in a flash. The first week, Josh and I went on vacation to Washington D.C., where I had fun with the camera. Josh managed to get some of the biggest blisters I’ve ever seen, which I think is a not-so-subtle hint that we need to walk more… After that we were home for a week recuperating before I had to leave for NYC to the National Stationery Show for work. The very same week Josh left for Porta Vallarta for none other than the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader’s swimsuit calendar shoot (can you see my face?). If that wasn’t enough, we didn’t manage to get his birth certificate in our hands until THREE HOURS after he needed to leave, so we had to personally buy that one way ticket to Mexico I mentioned earlier.
In NY, I was hailing cabs and pushing Bed Bath and Beyond shopping carts across uptown Broadway–trust me it was crazy. But what can you do when your boss sends you on an errand to go find a COFFEE TABLE you can fit in a cab?! On one ride, the cabbie had the radio on and Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy came on. He turned it up and started groovin’ and for that second I couldn’t have had more fun. You guys should really check out that album.
Later, at the Javit’s Center for the trade show, there wasn’t much to eat except hot dogs with stale buns and pretzels SANS cheese (I mean, what gives?). One of my co-workers dubbed it the “roach coach,” which was pretty downright accurate. We didn’t get to do anything touristy except eat at touristy restaurants like Carnegie Deli and (gasp) Hard Rock Cafe (what is up with the NY pickle thing?). Oh, and you can see the Empire State Building from inside the Javit’s (glass ceiling, cool when it’s not leaking on your booth, but that’s another story).
One night, after a particularly difficult day, I called Josh from my hotel room (which i was sharing with two other girls, but only had two full size beds) who said, and I quote, “Hey. I’m on the beach and the sun is setting. It’s really beautiful here. What’s up with you?”
All I can say is I never thought I’d be so glad to see Texas again.
One last tid bit: my MacBook ships this Thursday: Whoooo!

Hey, which weekend were you in NYC? I was in the city this weekend (26th-27th) for a research conference. It was held in a hotel in Times Square (near Hard Rock Cafe).
While I was waiting for a train some lady started talking to me; she had just been to a trade show involving artwork and stationary. Perhaps it was the same one you went to?

I was there the 18th-24th, so we JUST missed each other! The Stationery show ended on the 24th and we flew out that night. I knew I was super close to you but we were working THE whole time, so I didn’t bother to call you or even bring my camera. Yes, that lady was probably at the same show–sounds like she got to spend a few days sight seeing! Miss you, Nat.

Heh…sounds like your NYC trip was just as fun as my Memorial Day weekend. I’ve been doing grad school HW the whole time. Thanks for the updates….I like your new “concrete trees” banner.

LOVE the new banner at the top! Sounds like you have both had some “interesting” travels. Yeah, I could totally see your face when describing Josh’s experiences!
You crack me up!
