It’s a She

The most obvious news to report is that we FINALLY purchased a new car for Josh. “New” as in, new to us anyway. His A/C wasn’t working right in the Acura (long story about something in the dash) and I had pity on him when I remembered just how close to the equator we live—and then watched his left arm turn to leather overnight. Boy, he looks funny.

The new car is a 97 Honda Civic that, while old to most people, is quite young to us since our cars’ combined age is over 29. That’s a good number for women to be but not so much for cars. It’s a 5 speed, which tickles us to death because we both learned on stick and our first cars were manual. I got so nervous with Josh watching my skillz I actually stalled the car twice in the space of five minutes, which made me laugh.

At first Josh had severe buyers remorse. Not because we over paid for it–he’s just a sentimental nostalgic wreck about things sometimes and didn’t feel any ownership in this new thing. He actually talked about LETTING me have it, and driving the Escort instead, but I knew that wouldn’t last long (why didn’t I just say yes??).

I don’t have any fun photos to show you because it’s in the shop at the moment. No, we didn’t wreck it on the first day — it needed re-tinting (for visibility) and for some reason Josh wanted to get a few dents out of the body that were completely cosmetic and vain, but I digress. (It’s amazing how much one turns from not caring about cars to being super interested in image overnight). We get it back on Saturday, I think, and then I’ll post photos of it in all it’s black, two-door EX glory. Until then, it looks something like this, sans spoiler and in black.

  1. I’m driving a 98 Honda Civic, my first and only car. It still drives like a champ. But speaking of image, I totally want a Yaris and the only reason I can find to cause me to be completely gung ho about it is the marketing. What’s up with that?!
