Ok, Ok!
I’ve been working way too much this past week and the little time I’ve had off I’ve felt like the most boring person on earth. Nothing to write about, just things to be sarcastic about and while I think I’m being funny everyone else thinks I’m negative, so I wrote posts and immediately deleted them. But today - TODAY, a blogworthy event finally happened.
I ran to the Burger King that’s next to my work to get dinner at (ahem) 9:00pm because my bosses are aliens who never eat and I was slowly passing out from a lack of nutrients. At said Burger King (which has no nutrients to speak of) there is terrible if not completely absent managment, as the two times I have been there I have had to wait like 20 minutes for patties that only have to be put in the microwave for 8 seconds. That and someone in the back is playing with the radio, turning it up and down every other second, slowly driving me to madness. During my mental conversation about how I was never, EVER going to step foot in this place again (I get this from my father, and boy do we hold true to it), a man came to take my order who had huge scarily drawn on eye brows, the leftovers of some lip liner and the most perfect set of acrylic french tips I’ve ever seen. With a girls name on his name tag, and with a completely undisguisable masculine voice he asked me what I wanted to order and I almost choked on my own tongue. I mean, what half-assed store owner decided it was a good idea to hire a tranny? Not to be discriminating, but really –since when did men in bad women’s make up make people feel like EATING?
Then, after s/he overfilled my frozen coke, thus making me have to drink it to prevent a sugary mess — s/he said to me in the low man-voice with a slight southern twang, “is it good?”
Again with the almost choking. Was that a come-on?
Eww.

Hey,
That’s crazy. I saw a lady from the ACLU arguing one time on a news talk show that companies should not be allowed to discriminate against trannys or gays in their hiring. She insisted that in no way would they hurt business or ethics. The case in point was a school teacher. A man wanted to dress as a woman and teach elementary. What is wrong with our country? Sorry about the experience, but it is definitely a story you can keep telling for years to come. I got a kick out of it.

Mom, of course I’d love a homemade salad… are you catering to my office yet?
Amy, I think I’m going to stick with turkey sandwiches for a while…
Mark, in short, I think it is discrimination when you are refused because of sexual orientation (legally). I’m not sure how I feel about the transvestite thing — it just seems against health codes or something to have people with 30 facial tattoos or long nails serving you food. But even though they look different, they’re people who need jobs. Who am I to say what they should and shouldn’t be able to do? At one time people had a strict opinion of what women were “permitted” to do, most of it was just sexist. I don’t want to encourage that mentality but I just don’t find poorly applied makeup to a man’s face to be terribly appetizing.
