Death of a Winkie

If you’re looking for Josh’s blog, it’s not you. He deleted it. I didn’t get the entire reasoning, but I think it had something to do with the lack of comments and general aloneness a blog not linked to a network of friends (like myspace, xanga, lj, etc) can have. I’ve tried to tell him that (a) not enough of his friends use feed readers and (b) he doesn’t post often enough to keep people checking it who aren’t using a feed reader. (Cue you people who don’t know what I’m talking about–please go get a Bloglines account now!)

So maybe, just maybe, if you clap your hands a lot and shout “I believe in Winkies” he might re-emerge.

  1. Feed reading radically changed my ability to keep track of folks (like this here blog!).

    Yes, everyone should try feeds.

As for comments, my take is, I’m just happy to record what I can for myself. Comments are a bonus. (albeit a great bonus)

  2. Dear Josh (if that is your real name),

I’m severely disappointed. I had just subscribed to your blog via BlogLines and now this. I had my new Yo La Tengo album and Josh’s rss feed. My life was set. I used to believe in things…you know…. like God and birds and peace and happiness. Now everyone I love is dead! I might as well vote Republican.

To you I say good day.

I believe in Winkies, I always read, I just don’t always comment. Sometimes I just don’t have the time.

  4. He still wants Nuggets! I know IT!!!!

    happy Birthday to you!

  7. i loved Winkie’s posts. I always love both of yours…it’s just, the Mitsons went through a seriously long time of no internet and no jobs.

We’re back online now dang it.

Oh and Happy Belated Birthday! Sucky thing # 100,001,113th about not having had internet: no birthday reminders from my automated address book.

AND - I’m SO behind on official thank you notes but we LOVED your gifts. The steamer we use almost every night and the cake stand I am using this week for the 1st time. We love you both!! :-) Thank you.
