Ah, yes… Halloween

A holiday in which trucks with thunderous bass carrying dozens of children of Mexicano descent fill our streets. Josh and I opted for a lights out Halloween this year. I didn’t want to tredge up and down the stairs a zillion times when most of the candy was gone already. Call us party poopers, but I got my Halloween exercising in at work today. Work is not usually a place of exercise being that I sit in a chair for 9-12 hours a day, but today was different. Today we went on the long anticipated company event: bowling. Of course I got up super late and had to forego showering - grabbing a white shirt that later turned out to be a mistake when viewed under black lights.

I had been dreading this. The last time I bowled was with Ellis, a high school friend who is now married with two of the most adorable kids ever (who dressed up as Darth Vader and Yoda). I recall I told Ellis I was a horrible bowler, which I fully believed, and then proceeded to throw a strike in the first frame. I’ll never forget the look on his face!

This time I wasn’t so fortunate. I think I had at least four gutterballs in the first five frames — surely disgracing my mother, the one who has a custom-made-for-her-hand bowling ball in the attic. I’m sure she could pull it out and bowl like a pro after taking a second to blow the dust off it.

The positive thing about the experience is that I was, by no means, the worst bowler there. In the midst of a fifteen minute, vocal-less loop of “Insane in the Membrane,”I nearly won the first game, coming in 2nd with a mind-blowing score of 91 after choking on the last frame. The second game I managed to break 100, so in all, I would call that a bowling success by my non-bumper game standards.

We also opted for a lights out evening. I didn’t even buy candy.
Bowling! Was that a bonding experience? Dad has a “custom-made-for-his-hand bowling ball in the attic” too! We actually thought about joining the new church league– except they were bowling every Friday night. We’ll go.. next time you guys are in town. :)

  2. We worked the whole night in the Mac office of solitude. Halloween reminds me of Harding induction night. ATE!!!!!!
