Darned Red Light Cameras
Yes, they were only enacted in January and lo and behold on Josh’s birthday he gets photographed turning right on red. Wait a second… it’s legal to right on red if there’s not a sign, right? Turns out these red light cameras prey on the right lane in most intersections, and if you don’t come to a 100% complete stop, whether you can see on coming traffic or not, you’re going to wind up with a $75 ticket. The city’s web site (#9) states they will add the locations of the red light cameras as they are installed, but I have yet to see any such list. Also, there won’t be any kind of warning sign as you approach the intersection. So for all my fellow Dallasites, here’s a list of 57 of the 60 camera locations to be installed by May, many of which are already active. The ones in bold I have seen with my own eyes.

I also just found this article, which states:
Since violating a red light camera is a civil, not a criminal penalty, officials can’t arrest you if you don’t pay, they can’t add on additional charges like ‘failure to appear,’ they can’t refuse to renew your car registration, and they can’t file a lien against your house.

We have 20 cameras listed in our database for Dallas. Where can I verify these locations before adding them to our map and database?

I haven’t found any official list online comfirming the locations. The Dallas city hall web site is supposed to list the locations but has yet to do so. I think this might happen in May once they’ve all been installed. Personally, I can verify the 4 bolded locations above.
