Videogame Lists
You may have seen some of Rhett’s lists of games he owns, and they are awesome. Recently I wrote up my favorite games on a forum and feel compelled to share them here…
…for whatever reason.
Okay, so I was asked to do a top ten of all games, but that was too hard for me. I had to break down the lists to individual consoles first, and do a final top 10 at the end. You won’t really find many first person shooters (counterstrike) or big online games (worlds of warcraft). Just console stuff. Here we go -
NES
1. The Legend of Zelda
2. Super Mario Bros. 3
3. Metroid
4. Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link
5. Bionic Commando
6. Mega Man 2
7. Mega Man 3
8. Contra
9. Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse
10. Ninja Gaiden
honorable mentions: Tecmo Bowl, Metal Gear
SNES
1. Super Metroid
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Final Fantasy 3
4. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
5. Prince of Persia
6. Super Mario World
7. Final Fantasy 2
8. Super Castlevania IV
9. Donkey Kong Country 3
10. The 7th Saga
never played Secret of Mana, Evermore, Earthbound, Ogre Battle, Yoshi’s Island, Actraiser, or Super Mario RPG
Playstation
1. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
2. Vagrant Story
3. Gran Turismo 2
4. Final Fantasy Tactics
5. Final Fantasy 7
6. Silent Hill
7. Tekken 3
8. Resident Evil 2
9. Chrono Cross
10. Driver
honorable mentions: Siphon Filter, Xenogears, Metal Gear Solid
and I never played Valkyrie Profile
N64
1. Jet Force Gemini
2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarnia of Time
3. Banjo Kazooie
4. Goldeneye 007
5. Super Mario 64
6. Conker’s Bad Fur Day
7. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
8. Castlevania 64
9. Star Fox 64
10. Banjo Tooie
Gamecube
1. Resident Evil 4
2. Metroid Prime
3. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
4. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
5. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
6. Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader
7. Pikmin 2
8. Viewtiful Joe
9. Super Mario Sunshine
10. Eternal Darkness
And I haven’t really played PS2 or Xbox, or wii enough.
So here’s my final top 10 -
1. Resident Evil 4
2. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
3. Super Metroid
4. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
5. Chrono Trigger
6. Final Fantasy 3
7. Metroid Prime
8. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
9. Prince of Persia
10. Jet Force Gemini
I guess I was surprised to see Resident Evil 4 as my favorite game, but that’s really how I feel. I don’t replay games very often, but I keep playing RE4 over and over. So it wins I guess.

WHAT!?!?
No “Rygar”? No “Xexyz”?
You liked Resident Evil 4 over Metroid Prime?
Goldeneye is number FOUR?
you crazy, boy. cray-ZEE.
Bionic Commando rocks, though. Good one there. and I’ve not played Twilight Princess, but i’ve watched it for many minutes with a slack-jawed and childlike awe smattered on my face.
MAKE A LINK MOVIE, DAMMIT!

Having played both RE4 and Metroid Prime, I can conclusively say that RE4 deserves to be #1, or at the very least they could share the top spot. While Prime is something quite special, RE4 is ri(edit: expletive deleted)diculous.

Thank you Graypawn and JoMo. I considered Rygar for NES, but honestly didn’t think it was better than what I had. Lots of good NES games.
As for Goldeneye, it feels like 1997-1998 freshmen year. Which is a really great thing, but it never really made it out of there and continues to be lost to nostalgia.
Next time we hang out I’ll show you RE4 and you’ll probably understand within thirty minutes.
