These pretzels are making me thirsty!

On Memorial Day, the History Channel was running some of the later Band of Brothers episodes, and it reminded me how good the WWII miniseries was. Heather’s parents got me the DVDs for my birthday a few years ago, and I’ve rewatched them several times. So I popped in the first episode last night and about 19:50 in, found (another) familiar face in an already exemplary cast.

No, not Ross. The guy in the background looks to be none other than an out of focus Simon Pegg! (Here’s the part where you either think this is cool or you shrug and move on to something else) I texted Jomo to go 19:50 into episode 1, disc 1 on his Band of Brothers DVD. He agreed, definitely Simon Pegg.

38 minutes in he appears to pop up again! He suggests to Schwimmer’s Captain Sobel that they can just go over the barbed wire (that’s not supposed to be there cuz Sobel is lost) in his best american accent. I wasn’t exactly sure if this was him or not, due to the helmet, but after Jomo spotted the “EVANS” on his uniform, I consulted imdb.

So that was definitely him, as well. But the best was later on when he delivers a message to Lt. Winters. Click here!

EDIT - Looks like Evans doesn’t make it…his laundry is mentioned when Malarkey is about to leave England at the end of the third episode.

I am actually feeling a little sad about that.

  2. yeah…Sgt. Evans was a real person with a family, and the fact that he died defending our freedom is much more pertinent than the fact that a popular british actor and comedian portrayed him in a television miniseries fifty some odd years later.

    I feel a little sad as well…
