I’m pulling for my brothers and sisters still living in the frozen north of Detroit. But I can’t watch any more basketball this year. The events of May 14th-22nd are still very fresh and raw on my fragile, infantile mind. It hurts too much to see the living achieve The Finals when I’m starting to forget what my team looked like, even after only two weeks. (Yes, the events of that week seem like a long time ago, yet the pain is still prevalent. Weird huh?)
That said, I can’t seem to stop reading about basketball. And one thing that caught my eye mentioned how abc was going to “use a version of its Emmy winning opening from last year.” The link to the open led me to this youtube clip -
I may be the most hopeless guy you’ll ever read or know, because I seriously had to hold back tears near the end of that stupid thing. The radio calls, the memorable moments, the friggin HISTORY…and maybe the understanding that my team yet again won’t be there in the promised land. I read a recent column comparing Steve Nash to Moses. I laughed then, but now when I see this clip again I can’t help but remember the analogy (as clunky as I still think it is…)
Blah. Whatever.

Most likely it will be Detroit in the Finals so yeah I hope Rasheed hides a shiv or two in his uniform and shanks Duncan, Bowen, Ginobli….and a ref for good measure. I swear to Almighty God, I want the Spurs to be in PAIN.

after last night’s game, I’m not so sure of Detroit in The Finals…that was unbelievable…

Yeah, that was…interesting. They say that LeBron scored 29 of their last 30 points, if they end up beating Detroit he’ll have to play like that in every game against the Spurs, of course last year Detroit was down 3-2 against Cleveland and came back to win so, we’ll see.
