move day +1
We have moved. The dishwasher isn’t working. One of the toilets isn’t refilling. A plumber is on their way ’some time today’. Utilities-wise everything transferred over…except internet. For whatever reason the guy from At&t that transferred all my stuff neglected to mention that our new location did not support DSL.
After looking at fiber and being told ‘no’ by Verizon (well not ‘no’ to me per se, but ‘no’ to the city of Richardson) we swallowed our pride and navigated over to Time Warner. It seems dumb to have a phone line, a satellite dish, AND cable internet, but whatever.
So…the earliest Time Warner can install whatever it is they need to install is the 8th —– of August.
This morning we did our best to siphon someone’s open wi-fi, but it was extremely sporadic.
Yesterday during the move Heather actually had to do a freelance job. So when the client sent new files via email, HJ drove a half mile to the local library to get their free wi-fi.
The second time she had to go down there she didn’t even go in, parking the car and waiting for the signal outside instead.
So I guess we could do that for the next 22 days until Time Warner’s install schedule opens up; just go down to the library (we’re close to a Richardson branch now too).
Or we could suck it up for three weeks and go back to the future…

Whoa! We just moved, too! Friday we were moved (we took the plunge and hired movers–best $1800 I’ve ever spent). We just bought our first place, David, Lukas and me. Our neighborhood is a little ghetto, but apparently it’s up-and-coming. There’s also a fried chicken place a few doors down that nightly makes me hunger for fried chicken!
What’s your new place like?

moving creates a vacuum in your soul.
no internet is a worse fate.
to combine them is a horror of godzillic proportion.
you have my empathy.

Seems like we’re all moving these days. I am behind in MI for a few more days while Nathan is already down in OH. I had to laugh when today Nathan said that internet was only one more day away and it was like death to him that he was going to have to wait one more whole day!!!
Hope unpacking is going well for you!
