iiiiiEEEEEEEE is the sound I made

HOLY COW -this site looks sooooo unbelievably bad in IE. I think I looked at it once, long, long ago from a computer now deceased in that wretched thing that calls itself a browser. I think I resolved the situation by posting in my colophon that no one should ever view this blog in that Microsoft atrocity.

And somehow, for the last several years I have avoided seeing it that way, since I’m not really friends with PC people. You could say I promptly forgot that IE even existed. Until today. I’ve been freelancing a little here and there with Sarah, who uses a PC at work. Fortunately, it wasn’t her choice, so I can continue to be friends with her. This whole unfortunate viewing-in-IE-thing occurred when she was explaining what a blog is to her co-worker. He didn’t get it, and she mentioned that Josh and I have a pretty nice little blog here. So he types in the address and — wham! I’m forced to view the carnage of many, many hours of CSS fiddling. (Some might call this coding, but I’m really not a coder. I fiddle. And I break stuff. And I put it back together in a way that looks good in Firefox. Or Safari. You know, the real browsers.)

It’s SO hideous, I may have to consider spending some of my time fiddling around to try and fix it. But to my knowledge, IE is pretty bad with CSS, no matter what versions are used. I guess that means I’ll have to re-kickstart that new template I once spoke of, many moons ago.

Or maybe I’ll just get Darek to do it for me, since he appears to be giving freebees out to every blogger on the block. Whaddya say, Darek?

UPDATE: Ok, after checking the site with this German site renderer, I found that the blog looks a-ok in IE7. Is IE7 free? If so, please upgrade, you PC nutheads. If not, download firefox using the button on the left. Scroll down for a bit, you should find it.

  1. I’ll take a look at it tomorrow at work.

90% of our Consultants use IE6, so we’re pretty muched forced to make things work with it.

  2. All the cool pc users have Firefox anyway :)

  3. When I set up my mom’s PC (problem #1 she didn’t even ask me which computer she should buy, or she would of course have been told to get a mac) I didn’t even give her a choice. She still doesn’t even know there is such a thing as IE. She simply has the choice of the PC version of Safari or Firefox. At least I got one small triumph over Microsoft.

I guess I’ve only ever viewed it in IE, so now I’m curious to know what it should look like? I still think it’s awesome. You are a splendid designer. What are you up to?
