Metal Gear Sucks

But I really want to play it right now. I’ve been going over the gamecube re-release the last couple of days, playing it during halftimes and at night before bed.

In my memory of the 1998 original version this game was/is awesome. But it’s like when Creech watched He-Man as an adult and laughed at how dumb it was.

The plot is retarded and the boss battles are nonsensical. The only thing I like is the sneaking. But the sneaking is enough and I want to sneak some more. I wish I didn’t have to suffer through a poorly constructed wanna-be-anime about how bad nuclear weapons are and how cool “the thrill and honor of battle” is.

This game sucks. I’m going to play some more when I get home.

The cutscenes were intolerable, but I can still hear that little music sting that played whenever you got spotted by a guard. Plus, whenever I push the button to call the elevator in the lobby of my office, I think, “If I push the button again the elevator will show up right away.” But it doesn’t.

My roommate and I played through that game so many times when I was a freshman. We would just keep playing it on a loop, getting the bandana and the whatever the other thing was.

Vulcan Raven, Revolver Ocelot…..and I can’t remember the other ones. Yeah it was cool then, but had the most retarded ending in the history of retarded endings. If you want sneaking it’s all about Sam Fisher and Splinter Cell man, ya know.

  3. wait - if you press the elevator button again it shows up immediately??

  4. Sometime Josh, you really should meet my husband. Granted, some of his ideas sure are far out. But he loves video games SO much I think you’d sit down and be kindred spirits in that way!

Thanks for the photog comments. I certainly hope they look professional…it is after all my full time job now! hehe
